LOS ANGELES, California — Long Beach State (20-13) was defeated by BYU (23-10) 93-72, in the first round of NIT. The loss is the end of LBSU's postseason run.
Joel Murray led all scorers with 24 points and Jordan Roberts had 16 points and six rebounds for LBSU.
BYU of the West Coast Conference went on a 21-0 run after a 57-57 second half tie. The Cougars had the match on cruise control thereafter to advance to the second round of NIT.
Caleb Loher had a career-high and team-high of 20 points for the Cougars. Fousseyni Traore added 11 points and seven rebounds.
