LOS ANGELES, California — Long Beach State (2-2) had four players scoring in double digits in the 94-86 win on the road. Michigan celebrated Star Wars Night with 10,866 in attendance at the Crisler Center. Big Ten Conference powerhouse Michigan (3-1) led by as many as 16 points midway through the first half. However, "the force" was not with Michigan due to great team play and tough defense deployed by LBSU which caused Michigan to only lead by two points at the half. LBSU took the lead during the second half with 17:16 to go 54-52. Long Beach State (2-2) had four players scoring in double digits in the 94-86 win on the road.
Marcus Tsohonis led Long Beach State and all scorers with 35 points and Lassina Traore had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Aboubacar Traore and Messiah Thompson added 12 points each.
The Wolverines were led Oliver Nkamhoua's double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds. “A big problem we had was, every time we would score, we wouldn’t react equally fast to get back,” Oliver Nkamhoua said, “To just get stops to slow them down. We were letting them get too many transition breakouts and that starts with communication.”
