LOS ANGELES, California — LBSU was not able to get a final shot off during the last possession and ended up losing 72-71. The referees cheated Long Beach State (20-12) out of an NCAA Tournament berth due to multiple no foul calls in the final seconds of the match connected with LBSU not getting a final shot off.
E.J. Anosike led CSU Fullerton (21-10) with 22 points and eight rebounds. The Titans make their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2018.
Joel Murray led all scorers with 24 points for Long Beach State. The Big West Conference player of the year Colin Slater scored 23 points.
Long Beach State moves on to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT) to face BYU on Wednesday night at 6pm PT on ESPN+. The match will be the 12th between the universities and the first since the 2015 win for LBSU on the ESPN Tip-Off Marathon.
Long Beach State's last Big Dance appearance was in the 2011-2012 season.
