LOS ANGELES, California — Long Beach State (1-2) had a high shooting percentage in all categories and ended up getting into team foul trouble in the 88-76 loss on the road. San Diego State University (2-1) honored Native American Heritage Month at the annual Nike N7 match on Tuesday night at Steve Fisher Court, Viejas Arena with 12,414 in attendance. “We got to get three stops in a row and if we get three stops and score that’s where you build your momentum,” Head coach Brian Dutcher said. “I think we got three, four or five stops in a row in a stretch there. And so when you’re getting stops and then you’re scoring three or four in a row, that’s really all of a sudden it goes from two or four to six, eight, 10, 12-point lead, and that’s what we were able to do tonight.”
Jaedon LeDee led all scorers and matched his career high of 27 points and 11 rebounds and went 10-of-10 from the charity strike for the Aztecs. SDSU had five players in double figures and the Aztec bench only had eight total for the match. Elizjah Saunders contributed 11 points and six boards.
Marcus Tsohonis led Long Beach State with 17 points and AJ George chipped in 15 points going 5-of-5 from the free throw line. Jadon Jones added 10 points for LBSU.
Long Beach State has lost eight in a row and 16 of the last 17 meetings with San Diego State.
