LOS ANGELES, California — Long Beach State defeated Caltech by 68 points an NCAA Division III member of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opening coach Chris Aker’s first LBSU match with an unofficial exhibition win. LBSU held a commanding lead at halftime 46-14 and opened the match with a dominate 17-0 run. The bench put up 49 points total, an additional 14 points more than the 35 total Beaver points scored and LBSU shot over 50% from the field.
Next Monday Long Beach State officially begins the 2024-2025 season against another NCAA Division III Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent La Verne. The match will be new coach Chris Aker’s first NCAA Division I dance with a career record of 18-9 as a head coach. The match will be the first men’s basketball meeting between Long Beach State and La Verne.
