LOS ANGELES, California -- Jadon Jone’s four-point play had Long Beach State up 57-54 during the second half with 8:17 left to play. However, bad LBSU defense thereafter along with a 10-0 Portland run resulted in a 73-78 loss in the season opener.
The Pilots were led in scoring by Vukasin Masic who also led all scorers with 25 points with seven rebounds. Tyler Harris had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds for Portland. Tyler Robertson also added 13 points.
Jadon Jones led LBSU with 23 points and Aboubacar Traore had nearly a double-double with 16 points and nine boards.
