LOS ANGELES, California — Joel Murray led Long Beach State with 17 points, grabbing five rebounds and dishing out six assists. The Traore brothers combined for 29 points and 19 boards.
Redshirt freshman AJ George chipped in with 12 points. Long Beach State (3-2) held off Oakland (2-4) 78-70 with fluid offense and defense.
The Grizzlies had three players scoring in double figures with Blake Lampman leading the way with 17 points. The Baha Mar Hoops Nassau Championship Friday night match was the first meeting between Long Beach State and Oakland University.
Long Beach State's Marcus Tsohonis did not play due to injury.
