LOS ANGELES, California — Long Beach State (2-2) blew out Saint Katherine (0-2) 84-55 leading by as many as 33 points. The Firebirds turned over the ball 26 times resulting in 33 points for Long Beach State during the first match between the programs before 880 in attendance at the Walter Pyramid. University of St. Katherine is a member of NAIA and trailed the entire game.
Marcus Tsohonis led the way for Long Beach State with 20 points, five steals, and two assists. Aboubacar Traore had a double-double scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Long Beach State held a 36-13 first half lead and had five players scoring in double digits total.
Bryan Romero led the University of Saint Katherine Firebirds with 17 points, four rebounds, and five assists.
