UC Santa Barbara (17-11, 8-5 Big West Conference) led by as many as 11 during the first half Friday night at the Dollar Loan Center in Henderson, Nevada. LBSU needed tough full court defense to cool off the Guacho's hot shooting all night.
Long Beach State's Colin Slater had a career-high 30 points with three assists and three rebounds. Aboubacar Traore scored 12 points and had nine boards.
UC Santa Barbara's Ajay Mitchell had 11 points and five rebounds. Mitchell who hails from Belgium was named the 2021-2022 Big West Conference freshman of the year. Ajare Sanni and Miles Norris scored 15 points each for the Guachos.
