LOS ANGELES, California — Long Beach State played its only exhibition game on Friday evening at the Walter Pyramid against Biola University and came away with an easy 73-71 win before 1192 fans.
The Biola University Eagles were up 41-29 at the half. Long Beach State senior Joel Murray did not play.
“Everyone has a plan until they get hit in the mouth,” Monson said.
Long Beach State had a pair of players and brothers scoring in double digits, with Aboubacar Traore scoring 15 points and Lassina Traore contributing 12.
Biola University's Daniel Esparaza, lead all scorers with 24 points.
“A wake-up call only works if you get out of bed and get going and doesn’t work if you go back to sleep,” Monson said.
Coach Dan Monson has led the Long Beach State men's basketball program for 16 seasons.
Long Beach State will open the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 7, at California Baptist University.
